Southern Miss Basketball: Sun Belt Tourney Kickoff

Southern Miss Mens Basketball Heads to Sun Belt Conference Tournament as Eighth Seed The Southern Miss mens basketball team is set to compete in the Sun Belt Conference tournament in Pensacola, Florida, as the eighth seed. They will face either James Madison or Louisiana in their first game on March 5th at 5 p.m. Central Time. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Southern Miss radio network. This is the teams second-highest seed since winning the league title in 2023. A win against James Madison or Louisiana would send them to face fifth-seeded Texas State on March 6th at 5 p.m. The team will then face tougher matchups like Appalachian State and top-seeded Troy. Junior forward Tylik Weeks was named to the first-team All-Sun Belt team after averaging nearly nineteen points per game overall and over twenty in conference play. He also grabbed almost six rebounds a game and scored in double figures twenty-eight times, including a twenty-one game streak. The team has been strong at the free-throw line, hitting at least twenty in eleven games this season. They also have a strong home record since 2022, going two and oh at the Pensacola Bay Center earlier this year and winning their invitational with Weeks as MVP. Fans should tune in for what could be a gritty first-round battle, as Southern Miss looks to build on their momentum and chase a deep tournament run.
