Space Freaks
from Beatniks Bumtrips Bullshit · host Jedidiah Jackson
Berlin Poems : fell asleep listening to David Hockney interviews about painting space. He said he was somewhat of a space junkie. I’m thinking about this on a walk through the abandoned airport in Templehof, Berlin, and writing a poem. It’s really cold out. Space FreakBy Jedidiah Jackson Pulled a string or two so I could get the room in the old hotel on the very edge of the Grand Canyon See I am something of a space freak I took it in with a camera that rolled back with a crank dial by the thumb. It took an hour to photograph Later at the gallery, it looked too flat and I knew it must be paintedSee, I’m somewhat of a space freakI seek the contour The traveling edge that holds space A hug ass slap deer trail mountain crags It can be near or becoming a dark purple in the color optics of distance and often the contour of space is a brown road through the country With trees on the side That could also be bushes Burning sage, granting Kabbalah wishes TimbuktuGeorge Washington’s Cherry Paul Bunyan, the Mississippi And more words that deliver mass And jolts No seat belts in 1930Bumpy road the old jalopy getting luckyIn bed or the back seat Tan brown thighs, calloused hands toe connected to lip halfway to the elbow somewhere, lost in the hairLovers have the distance compressed For example: there’s a red bear Standing on its hind legs with his paws raised Gerrr Roar And all of that On a bottle cap In a field That has overgrown anabandon airportHereAnd the bottle cap In the grass on the path i took because it’s along this contour sideline going out into the distance of the airportAnd I’m thinking about Saturday night I fell asleep with David Hockney interviews on the Internet David told all who wanted to know about space and his trip to photograph the Grand CanyonI want thatI lean over to lookthe master of the universe is a artistthe sky is always a perfect color
