This Week’s Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7CFLVjVNXsnjSFgKqAY2gH?si=dda85d800fbb4f86 In this episode, we’re joined by DJ Sparkbox, the mastermind behind our podcast’s new theme song. We dive into the story of how we randomly found ourselves at his set in Charleston one night, and how his perfect mix kept us from going home early. It felt like he was reading our minds, playing all the songs we didn’t even know we needed to hear. By the end of the night, we knew we had to have him create our podcast music, and the rest is history! DJ Sparkbox opens up about his journey from a passion for film to producing beats, then eventually DJing. He shares how his DJ name came about, how he prepared for his first gig (with a giant notebook!), and how he learned to master reading the crowd. We talk about his deep love for hip-hop, R&B, and the importance of staying true to his sound. We also get a peek into DJ Sparkbox’s life as a family man, including the adorable story of his son already getting into DJing at just four years old. Plus, we chat about favorite artists like FKJ, Anderson .Paak, and TroyBoi, and how DJing has become a blend of creativity and pure fun for him.
