Immer wieder taucht die Frage auf, welchen Nutzen eine Diagnose im Erwachsenenalter für ADHS und/oder Autismus bietet.Der Weg einer offiziellen Diagnose kann langwierig und mühsam sein und wird deshalb häufig nur dann begangen, wenn der Leidensdruck der Betroffenen ihre Existenz bedroht. In dieser Folge erläutere ich anhand einer Metapher, warum eine Diagnose unabhängig vom Alter und Leidensdruck sinnvoll sein kann. Es geht dabei um die Kompensationsleistungen oder das Masking, die man als Neurodivergente Person tagtäglich leistet, unabhängig davon ob man nun von seiner Neurodivergenz weiss, oder nicht. Neurodivergent zu sein ist anstrengend und nichts davon zu wissen, birgt Risiken, die man sich in dem Moment nicht bewusst ist. Themen dieser Episode: Der Riss in der Fassade: Metapher für deine Andersartigkeit und die Probleme, die dadurch entstehen können. Rückmeldungen vom Umfeld: Erläuterung zur Wahrnehmung der Andersartigkeit und welchen Einfluss das Umfeld und der Vergleich mit anderen haben kann.Aufwand zum Aufrechterhalten der rissfreien Fassade: Welche Kompensationen leistest du in deinem Alltag, nur um deine Neurodivergenz auszugleichen? Welchen Aufwand betreibst du, um so normal wie möglich zu leben?Oder in der Metapher: Was tust du alles für ein makelloses Haus? Der Einsturz: Häufig ist erst ein Burnout Anlass genug, um sich selbst besser verstehen zu lernen. Die Ursache lässt sich so vielleicht leichter finden, doch der Wiederaufbau ist auch entsprechend mühsam. Neurodivergent zu sein ist anstrengend und nichts davon zu wissen, birgt Risiken, die man sich in dem Moment nicht bewusst ist. Vorteile einer Diagnose: Wenn man schon einen lebenslangen Mehraufwand betreibt, ist es mindestens hilfreich zu wissen, dass man das tut.
