Speak positively into our life and in those of others

Today I was reminded that our words have power whether it be towards us or the listener. We create a spiritual atmosphere. As Christians we believe that Jesus is The Word. He was there at the beginning of creation, when God spoke the world into existence -"Let there be ...". Check our hearts before we speak behind someone's back; avoid slander and gossip. We may try and convince ourselves we are sharing for prayer purposes or to protect ourselves but be careful that our focus isn't on ourselves for instance to create a thrill by sharing gossip, to justify what we have done by miscolouring our listener's view of another in our favour.There are many bible verses that caution us on this, one being, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" (Ephesians 4:29).
