Speaker/Author/Poet Michelle Ann Pillow stops by Good Deeds w/ Dr. Renee Sunday

from Dr. Renee Sunday's show · host Dr. Renee Sunday Show Podcast

Michelle Ann Pillow is a motivational speaker, author and poet who inspires women all over the country to empower themselves and walk in their divine destiny and purpose.  Michelle was born to teenage parents in Chicago.  Her mother, 16 years old when she was born, was a drug dealer who later became addicted to crack cocaine and heroine.  Her father, 15 years old when she was born, was an alcoholic.  He grew and sold marijuana to support his family.  At the age of 9, Michelle and her younger brother were taught when to pull the marijuana plants and were the production line to get the product ready to sell. Her parents never married but the life they lived was very dangerous and brutal.  Once her mother began to use drugs she became a totally different person.  She was very physically and emotionally abusive.  Her mother would tie her to a bed and beat her and let her friends beat her too.  Often her mother would make brutal remarks, comments and critical words to her children.   I did not feel loved by either of my parents.  Michelle did not choose to use drugs or alcohol but was twice a battered wife and then God showed Michelle her value!  Michelle Pillow went from a broken, abused and battered child to becoming a broken, battered and abused wife.   Today Michelle Pillow holds a degree from Robert Morris University.  She works for a marketing firm and travels the U.S. conducting market research for major restaurants and store chains. She also writes books and is a strong advocate for those who are involved in domestic violence. This year she will release two books, Abused Woman, Be Empowered and Sheniqua You Know You Don't Look Good In Spandex, Telling Your Girls The Truth!  Michelle often recites a poem she wrote to ex-husband upon leaving him called "I'm Wearing My Crown."
