After Tim James resigned at East Ridge on Tuesday to become the Hamilton County athletic director, the Pioneers wasted little time in naming his replacement.Chad Barger, the offensive coordinator for the Pioneers the previous three seasons, has been elevated to head coach.“I am honored to be named head football coach at East Ridge high school,” Barger said. “Coach Tim James is East Ridge football, and I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to work for him for three years.“We just hope to continue with the dedication and pride he had for his school and community. I am thankful for Principal Juan Moreno entrusting the football program to me without hesitation, and I just hope we create the type of program the school, community and county can be proud of.”
