Rugby league is a sport close to Lonnie’s heart. Dylan is less interested. But they both love movies! The film is written by and stars Matt Nable in his breakout role as Grub, a Newtown Jets champion at the precipice of retirement. The Final Winter charts an interesting time in rugby league’s development when violence and toughness (and maybe thuggery!) was slowly being cleaned – but perhaps at the expense of the game’s purity and, dare we say it, its soul.
