Special Olympics Isle of Man celebrates 40th anniversary

2025 is a landmark year for an Island organisation which offers people with disabilities the chance to grow, succeed and make friends through the medium of sport.This calendar year, Special Olympics Isle of Man is celebrating its 40th anniversary.Since 1985 it's helped athletes with disabilities gain valuable life skills as well as offering the chance to compete at major events across the world.We recently spoke with Special Olympics Isle of Man's acting sport director, Pete Corkill.In this extended interview, he explains what it means to see the organisation reach this milestone and explains why it's not just been able to benefit athletes, but the wider community as well
