from Success is Subjective: Real People. Raw Stories. Embracing a Non-Linear Life! · host Joanna Lilley, MA, NCC
For the entire month of May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Joanna is bringing you a special parent series, where she interviews parents whose children have overcome a variety of mental health challenges. As a teacher, Allison chose her career path in part to be able to have more time with her children. She never imagined she’d be sending her 12-year-old son off to wilderness therapy and therapeutic boarding school for two years. But that is exactly what happened. As a 2-year-old who was bouncing off the walls and reckless in thought and action, his challenges were apparent from an early age and only grew in magnitude the older he got. On today’s Success is Subjective episode, Joanna and Allison discuss the treatment path of Allison’s son, and how his journey encouraged Allison to become a parent coach for those with children who also struggle.
