Speer Returns? Coach Smart Weighs In | Georgia Bulldogs Football News

Georgia’s coaching staff is weighing a potential return for wide receiver Cole Speer in 2026, with head coach Kirby Smart confirming talks are underway—but no final decision yet. A recent court ruling could unlock a fifth year of eligibility for 2022 recruits like Speer, who’s already been spotted back at practice. Though his stats are modest—5 catches for 56 yards over four years—his emotional punt block in last year’s SEC title game left a lasting impression on Smart and the team. Veteran players praise his poise and experience as invaluable assets. With roster constraints always in play, Speer’s comeback isn’t guaranteed—but fans are watching closely.
