Spence’s Rough Night Turns Game

Mitch Spence’s special start for the Royals turned sour fast—holding the Nationals to just two runs through four innings before imploding in the fifth, loading the bases and surrendering a two-run single. The damage deepened when his reliever gave up a crushing three-run homer to Dylan Crews, turning a close game into a 7-3 rout. Spence took the loss, charged with six earned runs, as the Royals’ offense faded. The series continues tonight with Michael Wacha facing Foster Griffin at 5:45 PM Central.
