Find out what’s important to members of your team. Spend time with people (once a month absolute minimum) individually and frequently. Learn about their fears and anxieties and find ways to reduce the friction they feel. Remember, you’re there to serve them and remove the roadblocks instead of placing them. Search for recognition opportunities. Find out what they’re doing right and over-index on your praise.
