Spirit Powered Ministry - Audio

In 1 Cor 3, Paul describes those who have dedicated their life to ministry, full-time or part time. He says they are building on the foundation which is Jesus. In other words, people are saved by the work of Christ alone, and Churches come into existence as the collection of those who have been saved. But, it is the task of God’s servants to build on that foundation - to help those who have been saved by the Gospel message, to grow into mature and Christ honoring disciples. But then he makes the startling conclusion that just because people are building, that is doing ministry, does not mean they are really accomplishing anything eternal! He says that everything we have “built” will be tested by fire, and that some will prove to be of an eternal and lasting quality, and some will go up in smoke! In other words, we can be doing all kinds of ministry for God - telling people about Jesus, making disciples, helping those in need. But, just because we are serving God, doing ministry stuff does not mean we are making an eternal impact! Paul says - the works of many will burn like straw!!
