Passage: 1 Peter 1:22-2:3 Sermon Notes: Intro: 1. We need to grow up! Being a Christian is not a static thing, it’s a grand adventure. 2. Principles of Christian Growth a. Why we should be growing as Christians b. How are we to grow c. What drives the growth 1. We need to grow because we are babies a. Characteristics of Babies (literal) and (spiritual) i. Unstable – your joy and sorrow only goes so deep. Your emotions drive you. ii. Self-Centered—You wonder why people don’t notice what you did, you expect them to. iii. Short attention Span—you need to be entertained, you can’t plan the long game. iv. Need to be fed—need to feed them and don’t eat what is actually good for them. v. Gullible—easily swayed to believe anything. 2. How do we grow a. Obey the truth—Accept God’s evaluation b. Nourishment –Take God’s word in c. Love one another—need a community 3.
