Spiritual Wholeness – James 1:19–27

Sermon by William BurrowsIn James 1:19–27, God calls his people to a faith that is whole: a faith that not only hears the Word but does what it says. True religion receives the implanted Word with humility, puts away sin, bridles the tongue, cares for the needy, and seeks holiness in a world that presses us to conform. But James does not call us to manufacture righteousness on our own. He points us to the grace of God that brings us forth by the Word of truth. In Christ—the Word made flesh—we find both our righteousness and the power to walk in faithful obedience.
