Split-Second Decisions in Sport

from Sport Shack · host Paul Tonner

Paul and Glenn are back for another educational, funny, and entertaining episode. This week we are going to discuss split-second decisions by sportspeople over the years where they have made a decision in that one moment which either brought success or failure. Will also explore what goes into making a successful split-second decision in sport. Some of what we also discuss in this episode is. - A talented, former South African cricketer whose decision to celebrate a catch prematurely, proves costly. A player who lived his life on the edge on and off the field. - A cricketer nicknamed “Zulu”, known for his great exploits at the 1999 World Cup, however, is sadly remembered in regard to the drama of the 1999 World Cup semifinal tie against Australia. - A former English football international known for his costly miss in a penalty shootout at the 1996 EURO cup and has gone on to be a successful Manager of the English national team today. - Lucas Neil and the Socceroo’s in the game against Italy at the 2006 World Cup and the infamous penalty awarded. - Split second decisions in baseball for a batter and all the decisions a batsman has to make in cricket, - Michael Bevan, Pat Cummins - Golfers such as Jean Van de Velde, Greg Norman, Bubba Watson, and Jack Nicklaus. - Graham Arnold in the World Cup qualifier against Peru - Benji Marshall’s flick pass in the 2005 NRL Grand Final and Andrew Johns going down the blind side in the last play of the 1997 Grand Final. - Referees/Cricket Umpires. - Muay Thai judges - Eli Manning and Sean Payton - Ian Poulter and Rory McIlroy at the Ryder Cup Paul and Glenn give their Claps and Slaps for the week. Miss Olivia drops by to do the Quiz and Who Am I? We have our Where are they Now? Segment and Glenn finishes off the show with another cracking Johnny joke. Split Second Decisions Sources 1.
