We're live. We're live! Oh, hi everyone and welcome to the Nodio North... Well, I lost my mind there.
Sorry! Well, the Nodio North Podcast is the Nodio North Podcast was buying all the nerds. I am, one of your hosts, some. Now I'm the host Paul and Sam is freaking out because it's not a Sunday.
It's weird. I lost myself there for a second. Hey, hey, I was up here. Hey!
Oh, yeah, I lost myself there for a second. Even though I organised it all given that I can't do shit when it comes down to the hard work that goes behind it. But I was like, we have to talk. Yes, it's like, I've watched something, I'm excited, we need to vent.
So this is a special episode of the Nodio North Podcast that's going out mid-day Wednesday. So I'll put it out. So this is recording Tuesday night, so this will be going out tomorrow because the grumps are live. So we can't set on the grumps towards even though...
Absolutely not. Yeah, I'm not saying what I was thinking. Mmm, no, we will not do that. And it's weird, this is the Wednesday fiddison.
Wednesday? No, we're going to Wednesday. No Wednesday. No, we're going to Wednesday.
I don't know, we've done episodes. I think what was it done in episodes of the Strangers one Wednesday night? Do we? I think so.
What's normally doing on a Tuesday? We used to do everything on a Friday. Everything, we're going to do it every day of the week now. This is that one.
Every day. Exactly. You're going to get a second of this vs. Oh, yes.
But we're not. We're here today to talk about Superman. Yeah, so do you want to do the disclaimer? I really do.
Sure. Everything's discussing today's episode. There's our opinions and our opinions on all of our opinions on all of our videos. Go and join us on the Facebook page.
Come and join the Nodio North Discord or in the comment section where we can have an all discussion. But what we won't have is anyone coming for us and telling us our opinions are wrong because we can all agree to disagree and fund them. So let's keep it fun. Keep it kind and keep the toxic behaviour out of a nerdism.
Well said. And it couldn't be so much on this movie right now. The things I have read is ridiculous. And just on that point as well, because I know we haven't discussed this because literally what we've discussed is the movie.
There's a lot of stuff online. There's a lot of things that came out before the movie was released. What I'm going to suggest and I hope my co-host agrees or understands. I'm not going to reference any movies that came before or any universes that came before this.
Because I just want to focus on what this movie did to me this weekend. I've not had done to me. Probably this experience for me was bigger and more special than when I saw Gorswasser's Afterlife. This is very rare now.
And again, this is me being an old man and being like 90 years old. When I got the cinema, I enjoyed it. I have an experience. But when I am generally moved, it is almost like a religious experience for me.
And Gorswasser's Afterlife had that kind of moment where I felt like I was experiencing something special. This is something I'd wait for for so long and it was done with passion. It was done with love. It was done with care.
And almost like fan service. This was a different type of feeling. This made me feel like a 14 year old boy reading the comic book for the first time. Or even like a 10 year old boy watching a cartoon for the first time.
It just took me back so much as a kid that I was like, it was just magical. Oh, I love that. You know the first thing he came out of the cinema, he texted us and just said, I feel like a nerd again. Honestly, I knew this was going to hit a note with Paul.
And if anyone ever gets the chance to go to the cinema with him, please do. Because the movie aside, it is an experience to sit next to him and listen and watch him while he's watching film because he gets fully. It doesn't matter what it is. He gets fully immersed in it.
And I can only imagine what you will like during this film. It's an experience. Because me and Sami, we're not experts by any means. We've not had any formal training.
We've not done any journalism. We've not done any media training. We just love the medium. And we love getting caught up in storytelling.
That's probably the best way to say. Like if it's like a book, if it's a comic, if it's an audio book, if anything that can take your way, take your imagination, take it out of the real world and leave you in a place. And some films take itself too. Seriously, this film knew exactly what it was.
And it was not ashamed of what it was by any means. Again, I'll let Sami speak in a second. So I didn't tell you what I meant to her. But yeah, how colourful, how bright, how just it just put smiles on your face.
It was cheesy in the right moments. It didn't want to be dark. It didn't want to be dark. Or it would be all doom and gloom.
What Superman is all about is about hope. And this is what its big message was, was busy, hope, humanity, being kind, love, being respectful, saving every last thing, like not just person, any animal, little thing. And had one of the most amazing kiosks, gremlins, that's what we're describing in crypto. Because literally all we're through, the thing, he was just joy.
He was just fun. He was there to put smile on your face. And to cause as much havoc and chaos as possible. And it was just entertainment at its best.
You said quite a lot that I would say as well. As everyone knows by now, I am not a DC fan. That was very evident in the watching of this movie, because I asked a shit ton of questions to my husband, who is a huge Superman fan. So I went into the expectation, I don't know what your James Gunn film.
I didn't feel like I was watching a gym. This is a whole different James Gunn. And we will get into that in a second. And this is felt like a very full circle moment for me.
I am so proud of the episode that we did on Superman at the beginning of the year. It is one of my favourites. We did a lot of work on that. I got to be in a life of, for all, yes, it was centred around Christopher Reeves, but it still him.
I feel like him and Superman have so much there together, that it was kind of hard at some points to separate the two. So I meant to see this movie and be like, I get that, I understand that reference. Oh my gosh, I understand the characteristic of him. And it felt like such a full circle moment.
And it was, and we'll get into it, no doubt, but it is, it's so breathtaking. It's in Paul's right. It has such a message of hope that really needs to be heard right now. I mentioned at the beginning about the negative stuff that's come out of it.
And I don't really want to get into it, because it's just, it's fucking ridiculous half the shit that I've read about this. Anyone out here for that? No. We're here to celebrate this film.
Yeah. And just a big warning now. Oh yeah, huge. Spoilers, we're going to talk about spoilers.
So if you haven't seen this movie, this is probably the point where you want to switch off the podcast or pause it. And come back after you've seen the movie, because I'm not going to be ashamed and say, I'm going to tell you how this movie went down the things in it, because I don't want to do it at this service. I don't want to stumble and say, or this, I want to say, go through the experience in full with some of you as well. That's probably the best way to describe it.
Now, I think starting off points before talking about the movie, I know you mentioned James Gorn. Well, I think the most important thing to get right in a suit-man movie is the amount of sales. It's suit-man. I hope you've got his name, because I have, I actually have, it's one episode, I don't have any laptop, and I don't have any notes.
And I can't remember. I'll be the name guy for this person. So David Cornerswett. Oh my gosh, what a guy.
What, visually? Wow. Yeah. Like how dare people mock his suit?
Like if he's pretty good. I love to suit. Like, because people say, no, it's not big enough. He's not Henry Carbell.
Sorry, I'm not going to go there. But yeah. No, I watched a lot on, I've hit the suit-man, I've got a little bit of the montic talk. And I watched his workout routine.
That guy buffed up. He looked fucking nothing like what he looked like at this movie at the beginning. And he put the, he put the graft and he put the work in. But what I've also seen is the videos of all the kids who were extra in the film, how he was with them.
And he just, oh, he's just, he's the embodiment of how we fell for Christopher. Reason when we did that, it was so weird. And how he was, he's very much like that. It must be this thing when you play the man of steel.
You just like, he just, it must overtake you. And I love that he took his dog to set as well. And they give these dog a little bit of their suit as well. Oh!
Well, the crypto is actually sculpted from James Gunn's dog. And I saw a video that Gunn put out the other day where they were watching like Rawbacks of crypto. And his dog was going nuts. And he's like, he's essentially just barking at himself.
Yeah, he's trying to kill himself. So that's, yeah. But just to spend a few moments with, like, David, as Carl L. Carl Kent as the man of steel.
James Gunn is a very clever man. Because what he did in this movie. He's way too clever. What he did in this movie.
He took one of the characters. And that I've described in previous episode is the most hardest to relate to. And made him the most human character that we've seen. They made him vulnerable.
They powered him down. So he wasn't as powerful as Superman can be. I know we had the whole thing at the start. And since Superman was basically brought into this world or that announced himself to the world, he never lost the fight.
This was the first fight he had ever lost. So it was kind of like giving you a ring of endorsement. But seeing him in this moment, he didn't have everything his own way. He was flustered.
He was intellectually challenged. Not just by Lex, but by the amazing Rachel from a cham as Lois Lane, which I just watched the name. Sorry. It's for anyone who doesn't know it's Mrs.
Maizell. It took me so long to declutter the 1950s luck for her. And we're like, look at her. Yes.
And like I said, he made mistakes. He wasn't like there. And I love that he wasn't all just about himself. He asked for help when he needed help.
He used the things around him. Like crypto not just as the Kia Scropper. But when they're like going to combat together as well. It's a face-to-face.
And all me and Sammy rear-bond about practical effects and stuff. The special effects in this movie I could not give a toss about. No. Well, this is what we said before.
And many episodes, there is time in the place. Special effects in CGI. And this is one of them because you can't do that practically. And that's fine.
But you've got to make it look good. And by God did James Gunn and his team make this look? When you met us before and said it was a proper comic book movie. The minute I started seeing the visuals, I was like, oh, I get what he means.
Oh, this very much is comic book. This could literally be taken off the panel of a comic and put in front of you. Oh, it was amazing. It's when like the filmmakers days and again, this is not me.
So I got an office like, okay, how do we meet Superman world fit into our world? I don't want that. I want everyone. I want Metropolis.
It's like when you go to Gotham, fan of Gotham can be dirty, kind of grimy. But I still want it to be like exaggerated to the point where it's like, this doesn't feel real. Where this now Metropolis is the shining beacon. It looks so beautiful.
And there is loads of little like tippets in there, those little Easter eggs. Like when there's a point where the people's crossing the bridge, the little sign that says to Gotham this way, I was like, oh, no, no big style. Do you like, that's gonna see it. But there's like even little things like when, when Superman's fighting this giant monster, that's just there as Lex once in the fight, once in the noise of how this monster grows or anything.
Great. Don't over explain it. Don't make me want to like, take me out with this fantasy. Just lend them have fun.
And the thing is Superman is not just fighting him, but he's going around trying to save everything around. So the point where he saves a little squirrel as well. Oh, oh, oh, oh, this is the kind of person that can get behind. They actually went out of his way at to save a squirrel.
Yeah. And everything about like, and one thing, not saying that they've got them wrong in the past, but Superman's parents, that it was a completely different take to what we've seen, or what we've had in the past. But the whole plot around this movie is basically the trying to convince that with Superman being an alien, that he's a threat to earth. And again, I know the mid reference to this in the comics, reference to this in certain movies or things.
That's never really played out as well. This was done so well. Might be because of the political landscape that we are in at the moment, that kind of ring true. That was like, all right.
But again, keeping it in a fantasy world, the mid-it sort of was like, okay, Superman is a threat, because if we need to stop him, how do we stop Superman? And that's when Lex comes in. And Lex here is just driven by ego, by jealousy, by just like, say, like, here because he's not a human as well. And then the whole video, which haven't brandy Cooper's Jor-El just threw.
We were like, we were convinced that it was, we were like, that's brandy Cooper, that has to be brandy, that really does look like brandy Cooper. The woman next to him, we were actually convinced for a second of Lady Gaga. I was like, and then I was like, no, no, that is not Gaga. But it took my eyes a few adjustments to realize that was brandy Cooper.
And all the way through the movie, I'm looking for a rock guy. Yeah. And he's always in a James Gunn film, always. And genius, how do you use him?
Absolute genius. What? I like his one. He's one of the robots.
He's one of the robots. He's one of the robots. And we thought it was Alan Turtick first. He sounds like him, but it's not.
It's Michael Rucker. And the other one, the female one, is Pum-Kneath, who played madness in Guardians of the Galaxy. I knew that one, yes. We had all the Guardians in the same room.
Oh, that's quite good. Isn't that good? See, he's so clever. Yeah.
And again, being clever as well, it's almost like, because there's been reference to this point as well, that it took a little inspiration from Invincible, where the message from Jor-El and from Krypton wasn't that Superman was sent to save us, was to basically to rule us, which again, isn't law to the comics. I'll be honest with you. No, that's a very big, big change to it. I really thought that was Operation Interpretation, because we knew what the beginning of the message said.
And we know what to be the degree, the story with him being sent to Earth. And I thought that part was kind of like, has Lex fucked with it to make it sound like that? Or is it? But then he was even convinced that's what they said.
And I was like, oh, that's such a device of like, oh, did they really say that? Did they, or I don't know? It could be something that we find out later on, because as I said, there's going to be a lot of different things that's going to come from us now. Yeah, James is going to certainly open the door on the DCU.
It's here, and I feel like in his hand, and I felt like this from the day he took it on, it was incapable of hands. He was going to do some magic. He really would have had the, he would have fallen his arse to fuck this up, because we know how good he is. Yeah.
And Tina Big Swing was sitting on the box, because let's be honest, Marvel didn't go with the big hit of the star with Marvel when we... No, I didn't. And Iron Man was nothing. He wasn't a big name or commodity.
He wasn't money, like Superman is. No. And yeah, he took a massive massive, and also removing Henry Cavill as well. And saying if we're starting fresh, we're starting fresh, and we need a new Superman.
And my God, they couldn't have picked a better one. He's absolutely perfect. There's no other words to describe how amazing he is. Yeah, it's just his mannerisms.
He's transformation, because it's strange. Normally, we get a lot of Clark Kent and not much Superman, but in this one, we got a lot of Superman, but very little Clark Kent. And we also got a Clark Kent who could disguise himself. He didn't look like Superman.
He knew about Curly's hair, but that was quite cool. But it's everything. It's like how he hunches all over it. How...
How good he is. I love that openness of him. But going back to like, say, a Superman's parents, and two people who was involved. Like, I've always seen one, I think, perotio of Hans was out of Constantine, I believe.
I think that was... Yeah, and he is an actor who is in everything. I always used to get him mixed up with a very young Vincent de Novere, or they looked very... In their younger years, but he has always been an actor who was always there.
And I'm so glad he's part of this movie. I can't think of his name after talking to me, has he? Yeah, so we got John Kent and I got Martha with... I think it was Never Howl.
Like, I've never seen Never Howl in anything before. But seeing them interactions with Clark or Carlisle, depending on which version you want to call him, what was probably Clark with these parents? I'd say Clark with his parents. Like, even interactions on the phone, like when they're talking, but when they meet him and like, Clark's with Lois, when he thinks he's there to destroy the world.
And it's getting choked up because it's such an emotional moment, where it's kind of like their remind them, it's like, boy, you're who you are, because of who you are. Parents are there to guide you to... We can't tell you what you want to do or how to behave. You can do whatever you want, but at the end of the day, you're good because you're a good person.
And again, it was such a non-speech or a non-moment that... Like, it got us like, probably... Yeah, yeah, it was such an emotional moment. He's dad and it's lovely that we got a whole movie with John and then Kent.
But it was such a different... It was such a brilliant... This is what Ansel loved about this film is the human side, because he always felt especially how in the snide-over one, when they allowed John to die and the way they did it, it was like, oh, we just gonna... It was so...
He didn't like that. It was not... It was so inhumane of the Superman character. He despised it.
So when he's sitting, having this conversation with his dad, and he's still here, he was like, that's... That is what the whole embodiment of this is this moment right here. Yeah. You get more to these human moments with him as well.
How he thinks... In simple terms... He doesn't think of all the different ramifications. He stops the wall and that's basically where the world's at this moment, where he's like, he can see this big invader coming in, picking on the little guy.
So he stops basically the wall and he's like, I didn't stop the wall because I wanted to be political. I stopped the wall because I wanted to see her lives. Yeah. And he's put as a purest simplest term.
And his interaction with Lois when she interviewed him is just amazing. Oh, so good. But she just destroys him without... Like, with just words or asking simple questions.
And just quite... Like, their relationship in this as well is text sheet, but it's so passionate as well. And it's so real. It's very real.
I love the fact that when he's sitting there doing that interview, everything to him in that moment is so black and white. Good is good, bad as bad. And I am going to fight on the side of good. It's not until we get to the very end and he finally...
Another he admits it, but he says it out loud. I'm not fucking perfect. Yeah. I'm sure the natural human quality about it is I'm not fucking perfect.
But in the moment while you're there, it's almost like he does go through a learning experience with this, that he can't always be the person. You know, the person. Exactly. And when he's talking to us, to him, he is the perfect person because he's stopped a war.
Yeah. And end of, there's no further discussion. But he realises that the movie goes on and when he gets to that exploited, I fucking... I called when he's in that ring with X.
Yeah. And he does that speech. It's... he saw imperfect.
He's perfect. Yeah. It's just brilliant. It's such a transformation and it's so nice to see, especially from Superman who can be very, you know, matter of fact.
It was very matter of fact. You know, and then Tagore did let him allow him to be vulnerable. I think that's the perfect... I think that's why it works so well because of allowing that side to be shown more than, well, I stopped a bad guy.
Yay, me. Do you know what I mean? It's... It's possibly how you feel about Captain America.
Yeah. But that kind of like boy-scouty thing. He's always... you know, he's always going to be the bad guy.
That's the only level that we're on here. But when you bring vulnerability into it, it changes that. No, it's interesting you mentioned Captain America, because I know I... I...
let's be honest, Captain America, like the first Avenger, has one of the greatest origin stories in the Marvel movie, but then doesn't have the strongest second parts. In my opinion, I know we've just got that. Yeah. Because with Captain America in that movie, there's very little threat.
There's the threat levels, like anyone's against. You can't say the thing. And again, that used to be Superman's problem. His threat level against people or bad guys used to this war.
Okay. He's going to think only the only time in recent memory is General Zod is being like going back to Superman II where you thought, because let's be honest, when the pad likes Luther in the past, he's just being like, Gene happened, did a good job, but he was never a threat level to Superman. Now, Nick was wholesome. Oh!
Can we just take a... Oh my God, my God. This guy, this year, and even last year, I love Nicholas Hold. I am finding myself going out of my way to watch things with Nicholas Hold.
I wasn't a big fan of Nosferatu. No, I'm not a fan of how you fan. That movie was not made for me, but he was superb in it. Everything he is touching is turning to gold.
And what I loved about his performance is he went to his peers. He didn't just look at the comic books and go, well, I'm going to take this version of Lex, and I'm going to make a mic on it. He amalgamated every single person he could get a hold of, who was had anything to do with Lex Luther, whether that be voice actors, whether Michael Rosenbaum. He spent time with Michael Rosenbaum to get to know the Lex he played.
He wanted to make... He wanted his own version, but he wanted to pay homage to the people who came before him. So the funny signs that you see is Gene Hackman. The serious signs that you see, it's Michael Rosenbaum, and it goes on and on.
He really did his fucking work on this. And he's menacing, he's conniving. He's... I think if we go back to different Lexes and see what's available, I know the comic's Lex always do as well, or even the card in Lex, because he's got a super suit and he can stand towards him and do it like he's intellect.
This one, he breaks him down and he outthinks him in everything, like possibly that you can do. And I know it wasn't really a big reveal. As soon as we saw this huge hulking man, the same size as Superman, with you and he said, you knew it was going to be his clone. I was just...
Oh yeah, and... The only thing I didn't know what they're going to use was it going to be, like, with the being apparently universes, that wasn't going to be a found bizarre role, and it was going to be, oh, it's a bizarre, it was not really interesting, but I know it was like the clone from a Superman's hair. Having the fight sequences and saying, I know every move, I've got a sequence that'll basically combat and having sort of like, it was almost like he was playing a computer game. It was, it saw was, sorry to cut your off, I just, I had to, I did have to explain that part and because he was so lost in the fact that there was a clone on screen, I was like, the mirror and he's, they kind of copying him with the computer to like, make it, I know what I said at the time, I can't say it now.
No, I explained that part and he didn't quite get that bit, but again, he was just so lost in the fact that they've gone down that route with his clone. And again, how do you combat the one the strongest man in the world? You make an exact copy, but... The danger is if you've got Lex Luthor's mind, and again, it's hilarious because he has some of the best monologues or some of the best features as well, when he goes off about being compared to Einstein and Galileo as an insult, it's just mesmerizing.
This is the guy. It's just sick, isn't he? This is why Lexus saw great and saw power. If he put his mind to good, he could literally fix every world problem.
He could literally build anything, or repair anything, hear anything. He is literally, in his mind, the perfect human, but he has been overshadowed by someone who he sees as not being human. And the references he makes when he breaks into Fortress of Soledio, which is so amazing, they went totally comic book fantastic, and made it as ridiculous as possible, which again, I was all there for. And he walks in and he's just like, oh, everyone's obsessed with this super, and he's squirmed and mum, because he doesn't want to compare him as a mum.
No, you can't. Yeah, this is one of the things I had asked questions on, again, I'm not a DC fan, and I'm definitely not. I am a DC fan, I'm just not my knowledge is more novel than it is DC, even though I love reading the Batman air graphic novel, but Superman's just someone I've never, it's like the whole Spider-Man thing. I get why this figure is kind of like a beacon for young boys.
I understand that. He wasn't made for me, Spider-Man was not made for me. So I totally understand that. And there were certain things I did have to ask, and this was one of them.
My only interaction with Lex is, I barely can remember Jesse Eisenberg, if I can block that out my memory as much as I possibly can, I'm gonna put Jean Hackman. And I didn't see Jean Hackman as a, as a sorghum as a student businessman, but not intellectual. And this is why I was asking, is he like genius level? You've got no idea.
You went to the, you would throw 20 stock. Yeah, like 20 stock would be an idiot. He had a Lex Luthor. And I was like, oh Christ, okay.
So that's where we're at. It's like Lex Luthor could probably say, if you wanted to basically command the power of the sun and take that and make an energy source from it and just basically create the world. Like literally in the comics or even in the cartoon, he basically saw intelligence smart that he becomes the president of the United States by outsmarting everyone. And to believe in that, he's a good person.
Even after he's basically done the leg of, uh, I can't get the thing, the leg of the word now. He creates all these different things and so many world events that he's nearly destroyed the Earth in so many times. But his biggest weakness is his ego. And that is short case.
And here how he was willing to destroy like metropolis just to basically distract Superman from a certain thing. And that's like the level thing. But again, Level of penniness, isn't it? But before we get to gross, like one thing I will say about the cast in this movie, because it is a big cast for a lot going on.
There's a lot of moving parts. Not one single person in this movie is wasted. Not one person is there just to say we've got a Jimmy Olsen. Oh, we've got a Rick Vlag saying here.
And that's a thing. Everyone harder purpose. Even even Eve Testmaster. She was so good.
I loved her. Yeah. Um, like everyone in this movie, that's why I love James Gunn in this, because he could have just went, oh, when we heard the cast in saying, oh, there's a great land. Oh, there's a hark of, oh, there's a Mr.
Terrific. There's, oh, there's this many. It's like we are getting levels where we're going to get overloaded with characters. I was people just going to be like, oh, I'm walking on smiles and walk off type thing.
It's going to be one of those type of cameos. Not everyone putting the parts. I don't want to have rational reasons to be in. I was like, yeah, this has just done so well.
And again, I know everyone was dating the piss out of the Nathan Fillion's Guy Garner, but I can't even know this movie. I'm so, I'm so happy that we, that Nathan Fillion is, because as much as I am, you know, I do like the DC animated movies, I know Nathan Fillion has been the Green Lantern for a very long time. And for him to play a version, it's not his version. It's not his character, but it is a character that Nathan Fillion can do, justice.
It was so good. And just to scale. Oh, and I just, I loved the fact. Ant was over the moon that, because Green Lantern is one of his favorite things.
Like we have a beautiful Dark Knight picture in his computer room. He is so happy that it didn't matter that it wasn't his, Hal Jordan. No, it wasn't Hal Jordan. It wasn't Bobby that it wasn't Hal Jordan.
It was, he was just happy that there was a Green Lantern. Yeah, Guy Garner. Like he is the biggest, dickiest Green Lantern there ever was. But it's just hilarious for these interactions.
And again, I love that he could stand up and almost like, not stand to at all, but he wasn't scared of Superman as well. No, that was quite, that was quite an important thing. But it's just hilarious. And we saw the Hall of Justice being built.
Yes, we did. And it was, even I got that, I was like, hey, and my, honestly, the person who, besides Superman and Lois, the person who really stole this movie from me was, I was gonna call them Mr. Fantastic. I'm wearing completely wrong.
And this is, oh my gosh. But he's tasty. Oh my gosh. It took me a while to realize it was Darwin from X-Men.
I was like, because I was going, it's that, that's, that's, that can't be him from Guardians, because he's an, um, peacemaker. So that can't be him. And then I was like, each, and that's Darwin from the X-Men. And oh my God, he actually, he's, he's, every, see, I'm not saying he was a steal.
He was fantastic. He was amazing. He really, he honestly, he was the biggest surprise to me. And we absolutely loved him.
He's nonchalantness at the fact that he manages to save the day. It's like, okay, I did that. I loved it. Was, I, I know that had a lot of jokes, but like the one that killed me is when the, even Lois says you built a fucking spaceship.
And yet you garage open it takes half an hour. Oh, he was so funny. He was, but he's not fierce by it. And she's just like kind of looking around, waiting for this, uh, or he was, he was absolutely superb.
And, and lost his mind. A Hawke girl, he was kind of like, why? He was a bit confused as to why. And then he was, well, they could, they possibly could have picked another character and then he did the whole, well, who would it be?
So come on. Well, this one out your ass. Now it just went power girl. And he went, okay, you got us with that one.
I was like, no. How ago would it be a bit too distracting? I would say. Yeah.
I don't mind, I don't mind the fact that the year's Hawke she was pretty badass. And, but he just, he was phenomenal. And the fact that there was met a metamorph. A metamorpho?
Yeah. Yeah. I'm not going to pretend that I know all this. This is all coming from my husband, by the way.
He, he lost his mind with us. Yeah. He was so happy. Say what, I did have a tear in the eye as well.
When a certain TV reporter was being, was sure case. And it was William Reeve. I know, I was so happy. I knew he was in this.
Yeah. Because he told everyone. And but yeah, he was, oh, that was. He looked so much like he's that.
So much, so much. But it's just, it's lovely that James going all over. Like, why would he not? And what I did find very straight.
And then I said at the beginning, this is a James going to movie. Yeah. And this has a James gone cast. We know, but it's a mixture actually because it's not all James Gunn's friends being in this movie.
There was a different mixture. What got me is the soundtrack. Yeah. James Gunn did something he's not done in a long time.
He used a score and he used it hooking brilliantly. Just saying like Mr. Terrific's fight scene. Okay.
That's not an action scene when he said when he used the soundtrack. It was very guardians of the galaxy. Yes. Like the music.
But because we hadn't had a whole movie full of songs, like James Gunn, because James can put together a playlist, like no other. It wasn't a full movie of that. No, no. He used to score.
And that using the John Gully was music is just. Yeah. It could not do it. Yeah.
I think it would be an interesting thing. Yeah. And he used it in such a beautiful way. It wasn't just the continuously looped around.
It was fades in. It was fades out. And when a song did come on, it kind of like three year-old little bit. You're like, oh shit.
Yeah. I'm going to watch a James Gunn film. Yeah. Well, again, I wasn't saying bad things.
No. It's like during Mr. Terrific's fight scene. Because this is a film with lots of action movie action scenes, especially with Superman fighting a lot of different things on multiple things.
But the Mr Terrific one has done so well. Again, it took me back to Guardians of the Galaxy S just how playful it was. Because you're seeing it from the viewpoint of Lois in that bubble. And then you just seen a round of letters.
You know what? Reminders of their presence escapes from Guardians 2. Oh, yes. Yeah.
So everything's kind of flying over. All things are getting knocked out. Oh, yeah. It was very, yeah, it was.
There was one cameo we forgot to mention. But then Cena was in this film. Yes. Well, no, there was two cameos.
Two big cameos. As Cena, yeah, as any of you would. Apparently in season two of Peacemaker, it explains how we get Peacemaker from that universe into this universe. So it's got to be about, like I said, the pockets universe and stuff like that as well.
Yeah, well, fillings in it. So that's going to help explain that. Who was he becoming? Um, it was quite a big one.
I think it's going to be the next girl. Oh, right. The order of crypto. Yes.
Um, Millie. Millie Alcock. Millie Alcock, yes. We were waiting for her.
Not gonna lie. We were waiting the whole movie for her. And the fact that... I thought it was going to be an end credit scene.
That's what I thought it was going to be. Yeah. Well, that's what... The fact that she hadn't been in it to this point, we're like, oh, she's going to be an end credit scene, this one.
But the fact that when she came in, it was perfect. It's really just letting you know she's here. She likes to get fucked up. It's very much on the basis of the girl of tomorrow, comic book.
Um, which, thank you, TikTok, for letting me know that. Yeah, and I understand why Lobo's going to be in it, because it explains that she likes the party. So Lobo likes the perfect. So, yeah.
Yeah, it's going to... It's a lovely setup without it being sloshed up. Sashia, bang. She's saying, yeah, bang.
She's gone. It was brilliant. And the fact that she was crypto's owner as well. Because all the way through, people ask her, and you've got a dog and he's like, kind of not really, it's not my dog.
Yeah. But he never said who's dog it was. No, no. But, oh, like every moment that crypto was on the screen, saying, oh, like, I didn't expect where the film to start to be, like, say, the crash landing that we saw on the trailer.
Oh, yeah, that's very much... You're in it, aren't you? Yeah, I was like, oh shit, this is one thing. And from that moment we knew all the way through crypto was going to be not a problem or going to be anything.
And I know you text this and saying, just tell me, does the dog die? I was like, no, what does that dog do? No, I just needed to know, because honestly, I didn't want to get attached to this dog. And so I tell you what got me the whole really bad one, that shit went all over its head.
I was like, get out of here! But that was quite a thing. Because again, the engineer was done well. That could have been a clusterfuck and looked totally bad with all the different things that it could have done.
But I think that handled that one really well. Yeah, it was, yeah, it could have been, you're right, it could have been messy and it wasn't. No. It was very well placed.
And it's like, James, when you were in stone. Yeah. And the whole fight scene when... The use in the engineers, none of us against Superman, is probably the most claustrophobic and horrible thing that I have seen in a long time.
Seen in an environment when they're describing what they're doing, and they're like, oh, we can't stop them from braving. So we're going to stop these lungs from taking an air. It's like, yeah, you have claustrophobic a little. Yeah.
And it's like, the extent of all the Superman can haul these breath for hours, it's like, but it's not falling his breath and he's got no air and he's long as the holes. So I was like, ah, interesting. But as an intro, amount of sales, fashion, how he basically handles that is just mesmerizing, like flying off and then crashing to the ground. So the degree where it just causes and then the whole...
And the whole vision. The whole riff and stuff, it's just he's breath taken. It doesn't say it's comic book fantasy at its best. Yeah, it really is.
There was a scene there that I was thinking of and I was going to be, oh, that was it. What I really liked is the not sort that they didn't overuse his eyes. Yeah. And when it happened, it was like, shit.
Yes, yes, he's using it now. That's the perfect time. Yeah, they didn't overuse it. So when it did happen, it meant so much more.
Yeah. I think that's just using things with, not restriction, like moderation and all the time. Being patient with certain aspects and things. But again, for the tools that got and how they used it, like making Jimmy Olsen a sex guard was just hilarious.
Wow. Yeah. I was looking at him all at the escort, I'd know him from somewhere. Yeah.
But he's not going to read the diet. And yeah, he was so good. And the fact that he had no interest in Eve, what is wrong with him? But even Perry White, the whole team, Cagrant was there and it was...
And when Perry's like, when he commands them all to get on the ship, I'm like, okay, I could watch something with just these guys. And I think we will. That's the thing. I'm so, that was such a team right there.
Because the plan is, I know there's a lot of different things coming out with, like the way they have structured Lois Lian. I can see Lois Lian could handle her own movie. Like remember, Lois Lian had her own comic book back in the day. Yeah.
She is forced to be reckoned with. Like Lois Lian is one of the most badass characters in comics and her portrayal in this. Because a lot of the time, she's always been lost or been there, like, as a bit of a... They didn't know what to do with that.
They didn't want to make actually overpowered. Like, as in her, like intellectually overpowered, to where she's totally unrelatable. And it was like this fine balance that they could never get right with her. And then, Rachel, Mrs.
Mayesville comes in and fucking shits all over it. It's the only one DC item that, like, collectable I own is a DC bombshell, Lois Lian. Yeah. And big massive statue of that.
She's fucking phenomenal. Yeah. And this, she's such a powerhouse. Like, the performance and the way she looks, the way she acts, and the way she actually questions her failings towards Superman, it's not like, oh, I love, love, sick puppy dog.
No, not at all. Yeah. So I quite love that aspect. Again, like, all the different elements are different aspects.
Like, even like, the robots had their own unique, like, jokes and comedy. So it fit the right thing. But that end scene, I'm sorry, I'm going to spot everyone here. All we're through, when we're at the start, the message is like, Superman's going off the message he had from his parents is basically what he bases, what he thought he bases his life on, or bases like purpose on.
I think his whole mantra is noticed. Yeah. And then what he's like, he gets injured and stuff, it goes on about the other son fixing them. And that was quite a powerful moment.
And at the end, after they saved the world, and everything go back to all that, it was in the fortress, I kind of, uh, not relaxing, but kind of recuperating. And do you want to say the videos of your parents, that will help you relax. And he goes, yeah. And it turns it around into the videos of, uh, John and Martha Kent and someone, and that brought me, literally, I was like, and it was the lock on, and it was the lock on, like David Copper Swett, it was fierce.
Um, it was just like, sore-hawesome, sore-haw. And this is what this movie kind of, short cases or busy could have had a neon sign. This is about heart. It's about humanity.
It's about being kind. But even say, kindness is the new punk rock. I am sore with that. I am sore for that.
And with everything that's going on in the world as well, we fucking need this film. No, it's, it's, it's, sorry to still align from another famous cartoon. This isn't the film we want. This is the film we need.
