Austin Schield just didn’t stop winning—after claiming his state title, he capped off an incredible weekend by snagging the national Greco-Roman 16U 138-pound championship in Fargo, dominating with an 8-3 final. He came agonizingly close to a second title, falling just short in Freestyle by a 5-3 decision, but still earned All-American honors with his top-two finishes. He wasn’t alone—Gonzaga Prep’s Ryder Owen and Miro Parr-Coffin, plus Mead’s Duane Leslie, all earned All-American status with top-eight finishes across both styles. Coach Brian Owen praised the Spokane contingent, noting nearly 20 local wrestlers competed and are now brimming with confidence heading into high school. Team Washington as a whole soared, placing in the top ten in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman divisions. The Junior Nationals wrap up this Saturday with girls Freestyle.
