Sports Injuries - new techniques

from Today’s Gut Health Tip · host The Guud Company

Have you overdone it with Summer sports? Have a nagging injury or a new one? Consider that the basics RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation have changed slightly over the years. Rest is now active rest involving stretching, massage, ultrasound etc Ice could be cryotherapy, ice baths, ice massage instead of simply slapping an ice bag on a swollen knee. Compression could be kinesiology tape or a specific brace to support your healing instead of an ace bandage. Elevation means getting the injured area above your heart so the blood flows easier away from the swollen area. I love a visit to a physical therapist at the onset of new injury.  They can show you what specific muscles need to be strengthened or stretched to support the injury and pick a compression technique best for you.
