Spotify Playlist Pitching is Pointless

from Sounds Of The Future Hosted by Tom DuPree III

There are two broad categories of playlists on Spotify: Spotify's own editorial and algorithmic playlists, and user-generated independent playlists, with the latter becoming its own burgeoning industry in the realm of independent music. Though many artists think submitting music to independent playlists is a great method of gaining traction, it couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, the best way to get added to user-generated playlists isn't to submit to them, it's to leverage Spotify's algorithmic growth. After that, the playlist adds will come pouring in. So stop wasting your time (and your money) chasing streams from third-party playlists and start focusing on earning new fans and building your business as an independent artist. The rest will follow.
