Welcome to the Tweed Trends podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl, and you are tuned in to Tweed Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today.
Welcome back to Tweed Trends, friends. Today is National Spouses Day. Let's get started. Alright, so you might be asking yourself, what is National Spouses Day?
Well, basically, it's the second best native Valentine's Day for people who are married, as well as soulmates, because keeping it real, let's face it, marriage can be considered a type of social construct. So just because you don't have a piece of paper saying that you're married doesn't mean that you can't still participate in this day. However, that whole thing is a debate for another day. So back to the holiday.
It's an opportunity for you to celebrate your spouse and show them just how much you appreciate them, because truth be told, after a while, if you don't perform a 12-point inspection check on your marriage, you just might find yourself broken down on the shoulder of life's highway, and the only AAA insight coming to get you would be affairs, asset splitting, and alimony. And ain't nobody got time for that. Just saying. So let's start the trend today.
Take time to nurture your relationship by acknowledging your spouse. I mean, I know you've heard the saying before. Happy wife, happy life. Well, here's mine.
Happy man, that's the plan. I don't know if you've heard this or not, but ever since COVID started, there's been a lot of talk about relationships that have been just falling apart left and right and ending in divorce. And the reason being is that people were having to shelter in place and work from home, and this forced couples to spend more time together. Now, unfortunately, they found that, you know what, I'm just not into you like how I used to be.
I'm just not feeling you. I can't rock with you anymore. And so with that in mind, it seems like online counseling and couples programs have exploded. They are everywhere.
I can think of five off the top of my head that are local. So there's no shortage of them. You can find them just about anywhere. But it's almost as if somebody realized there was a big problem and was like, you know what, let's put some solutions out there, put it where they can reach it.
As a matter of fact, we were on a call last night that had, I know it was at least 30 or some odd couples on there. And the crazy part was all of them weren't couples. There were some people where it was just one out of the two, like the significant other wasn't there for one reason or another. But they were still on the call.
You know, and I kind of looked at it as one of those like, let me take my relationships temperature. Let me find out what they're putting out here. And then when we get a chance to get together, then I can go over those questions with them and we can have this conversation just to kind of gauge where we are, you know, seriously that whole temperature, because you want to take preventative measures. You know, however, let's put this out there, there are some relationships that are asymptomatic.
You know, you would never know there was a problem and you might be the other person in the relationship and did not realize that there was a thing until the thing happened. And then you're like, whoa, whoa, wait, what just happened here? Let's stop, rewind. Let's figure out what now?
So basically what you want to do is you want to stop that spread of whatever that virus is that's eating away at your relationship, stop it quick fast in a hurry long before the love is lost its shine. Or you can really celebrate somebody, you should probably know them fairly well. So that's my last question. Do you really know your spouse?
So I got some questions. I want you to just ask yourself or maybe you guys can sit down together and figure it out together. But first question, could you buy him or her an entire outfit head to toe without asking them for a single size or let me put this in there too without rummaging through the closet, trying to pull it from each tag of their favorite outfit. Could you do that?
Another one, can you name who their best friend is and bonus if you know how to get in contact with that best friend. What about what stresses are they currently facing? Who's that one busy body in the office that seems like it's always setting them off and that's just causing all kinds of chaos and mayhem at work. What is it that they're going through?
What does their dream vacation look like? Could you go and plan that vacation right now in this moment and know that they will have stars and hearts in their eyes like, oh my gosh, you just know me so well. Okay, yeah, a little dramatic there. What are their life dreams or their basic philosophy of life?
Can you name their favorite and least favorite relatives and why that's the case? That's a good one. Because if you named the wrong one, they might be looking at you with the sign. I'd be like, why would you think that I didn't like them?
But those are just a few questions that just kind of toss around and consider. And if you realize that you don't know the answers to the majority of those questions, then you might have some serious homework that's due real soon and you need to get on it. Y'all going on it? I tell you, I don't know, I just had this urge to hear Regina Bell and that song The Love Is Lost It Shine.
Just talking about taking a moment to acknowledge and express to your spouse how much you appreciate them. That song just kept coming back to me, coming back to me and I was like, you know what, I got to listen to it. So yeah, I kind of cut in the middle of doing my recording to listen to it, but it was well worth it. It was a blast from the past and just a reminder that if that love was true and real in the beginning and you know and believe in your heart that it's something that you want to keep, that it's worth keeping, then you will work at it.
You're going to put in the work. You're going to do what you need to do. You're going to get to know your spouse again. You may have known them years ago when you got together, but guess what?
It's time to get to know who they are now because over time they've changed. Life has changed. A lot of things have changed. You've changed.
So just take that moment, work on it, nurture the relationship and in the meanwhile, if you get a moment, head over to your computer and follow me.
