Squirrel Woods

Most lifelong hunters started in the squirrel woods — a .22 or a light shotgun, a September morning under the hickories, learning to move slow and look up. Nobody writes magazine covers about squirrel hunting. But every skill that later takes elk and whitetails was forged there, in the small pursuit almost nobody watches.Jesus said the small arena is where the man is actually made: whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. God's pattern is consistent — David kept sheep before he kept a kingdom; the disciples handed out bread before they led the church. The little things aren't beneath the big calling. They are the tryout for it.Whatever feels small in your life right now — the modest job, the unnoticed serving, the daily faithfulness nobody applauds — that's your squirrel woods. Hunt it well. The God who watches the small woods is the same One who assigns the big ones.Prayer:Lord, forgive me for despising the small assignments while waiting for big ones. You watch how I handle the little things — and that's where You're building me.Make me faithful in the squirrel woods: the small tasks, the quiet serving, the unglamorous daily work. I trust You with what comes next. Amen.Challenge:Identify the smallest, least glamorous responsibility currently in your life. This week, execute it with the same care you'd give the biggest opportunity — as a direct act of trust in Luke 16:10.
