SS01 Ep007 - Private Equity in Asia with Giovanni Zangani

from Italian Village - Il Podcast · host Orchard Road Studios

For episode seven of "Italian Village - The Podcast," we are thrilled to host Giovanni Zangani, a veteran in the private equity industry with an impressive career that began as a business analyst at Accenture. After working for two private equity funds and gaining experience in Europe, the US, and Asia, Giovanni decided to settle in Vietnam. There, he worked as a fund manager for two local investors, where he closely observed the challenges and opportunities in the industry.During his time with entrepreneurs, Giovanni noticed that many companies had excellent products that were highly valued by consumers, but their organizations and lack of long-term planning limited their expansion. The founders of these companies were looking for partners who could help them professionalize their organizations, but were reluctant to hand over control to strategic investors, as many were still young and full of energy.Giovanni also observed that traditional funds often failed to provide the necessary support, more due to lack of time than expertise. Their structure incentivized rapid capital allocation to grow AUM and support larger organizations in a relatively small market. To address this misalignment, Giovanni launched Maestro Equity Partners, a firm focused on industry specialization, a larger team of professionals working on each portfolio company with greater personal commitment, and more selective investment criteria, supporting up to 5 companies simultaneously. For questions or further information, please contact us:📧 Email: [email protected]📱 WhatsApp: https://wa.me/6596404464Reference Links:- Website: SIAL Group https://www.italianassociation.com/- Website: Business Center https://www.ibc.sg/- Instagram: @singaporeibc https://www.instagram.com/singaporeibc/- YouTube: Italian Village - The Podcast https://www.youtube.com/@italianvillage- Orchard Road Studios: https://www.orchardroad.studio/### Episode Index:00:00 Introduction03:59 Giovanni Zangani's career path06:02 Private equity experiences and challenges encountered10:13 Launching Maestro Equity Partners and its mission17:00 Sector specialization and personalized approach25:00 The role of traditional funds and their impact30:00 Differences between markets and opportunities in Asia40:00 The future of private equity and start-ups46:45 Comparison between various markets and regions50:00 Tower game53:00 Conclusion and farewells________________Italian Village is a Podcast dedicated to Italians in Asia and South East Asia, exploring business topics, opportunities and food for thought. From an idea by:Omar Bassalti 👉 / https://www.linkedin.com/in/omarbassalti/Follow us also on:Spotify: https://spoti.fi/45kNUaSApple Podcast: https://apple.co/3VDVWZeAmazon Music: https://amzn.to/3Rrch17Host: Omar Bassalti 👉 https://www.linkedin.com/in/omarbassalti/Co-Host: Ludovica Girardo 👉 https://sg.linkedin.com/in/ludovica-girardo-98106533/Guest: Giovanni Zangani 👉 https://www.linkedin.com/in/giovannizanganiExecutive Producer: Italian Village - The Podcast | https://italianvillage.itArt director: Italian Village - The Podcast | https://italianvillage.itAudio and video post-production: https://italianvillage.it/Theme song and animations: https://italianvillage.it/Graphics: Daniela Castellanos https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniela-castellanos-aa6aa8200/ with CanvaVideo equipment: Orchard Road Studios https://www.orchardroad.studio/Lighting equipment: Orchard Road Studios https://www.orchardroad.studio/Social media manager: DLVRLocation: 400 Orchard Road#06-10 Orchard TowersSingapore 238875https://maps.app.goo.gl/mkkA4t8p1S9k6FES8
