[§183] Rev 11:19: Introduction to the Final Plagues of the Third Woe
This podcast provides an overview and explanation of Revelation chapter 12. In this chapter, John begins a flashback to the premortal existence, which typifies and foreshadows the conflict between the kingdom of Satan (the dragon) and the kingdom of God that began before the physical creation of this earth. Christ's victory over Satan during the premortal war in heaven typifies and foreshadows Christ's future victory over Satan at the Second Coming.John specifically tells us in the Joseph Smith Translation of Revelation 12:1 that the signs and symbols of events in premortality are in the likeness of events and things on the earth. He identifies a wonder or sign in heaven of a woman in Revelation 12:1. She represents the Church of God in premortality. and her likeness on earth is the ancient church of Jesus Christ in the meridian of time. This podcast will show that there are two parts to Revelation chapter 12. Everything described and depicted in verses 1 to 12 are representations, symbols and explanations of events from the premortal existence. Everything described and depicted in verses 13 to 17 are descriptions and explanations of Satan's war against the primitive church from the crucifixion of Jesus Christ until 70 AD. John uses the same symbols and images to describe the premortal church and the primitive church, but the events are separated by eons of time.
