Food, gardening stuff, and cat food, what did we find?Then off to the library to read Daniel J. Levitin’s book on Successful Aging - it’s all about the people! Who will change the light bulb? Where will I get ice cream? And who will I have lunch with?And what’s this about Warren Buffett and the art of stock arbitrage?? Mostly stuff you can’t or won’t do.-takeover targets - but how do you know?-Buffett DID use leverage in his early days on his “sure thing” trades-“buy what you know” is commonly attributed to Buffett but, does that mean industry or stock trading techniques?-Mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, stock buybacks, corporate liquidations (eg, when the assets of the company are worth more than what the company trades for on an exchange), stubs (leftovers from a merger or spinoff), etc.-Where does he find them? The NEWS! WSJ, MSN, Google! Good luck!-Overall, the book is rather light on HOW to actually make these finds that Buffett did in his earlier trading years. Even a cursory check through ChatGPT or another search will show that most of these methods either aren’t easy to do these days or, even worse, can’t be done at all.-Mary Buffett is basically playing off of her name change from having been married to Buffett’s son for twelve years.Donate to the show!
