SSAB - FULL WEEK - Sept 6 - Sept 10, 2021

from The Audio Blog of Steven Sirski · host Steven Sirski

Full week of Episodes from September 6th to 10th, 2021.  Labour Day in Canada, just another work day in China. // Mid-Autumn Fest coming up, time to eat Moon Cakes. Starbucks' hit or miss attempts at the dessert. // Got a haircut, what's it like? A digression on getting a haircut in Beijing, China. // Have a great week! // stevensirski.com Getting close to that day to mark going around the Sun! Talking about getting out of China, but is it easy to get back in?  //  Talking to former Chinese teacher of mine, she's currently in CAMBODIA and working ONLINE. Wasn't that my goal FIVE YEARS AGO?!?!?  //  Spent the morning studying Chinese, current study plan includes 20 minutes of character study, 15 minutes of intensive listening (at Tims, because I get "free" coffees there), back home, 30 minutes of class note writings, 25 minutes of reading then 25 minutes of reading out loud.  // Afternoon was spent updating some blog posts for May You Make Your Movie. Happy to get those done.  // How often do you clean up your computer desktop or phone storage? Spent the afternoon going through those things.  //  Worked on a soundtrack this weekend but nothing polished. Thought I'd post it anyway, have a listen!   // Vereniky and kubasa for dinner!  // stevensirski.com Interesting Chinese 'class' today as I spent the morning watching a movie. The English title is 'Let the Bullets Fly', Chinese title is 让子弹飞, rang zi dan fei. But I didn't just watch it, I WATCHED IT INTENTLY in an effort to follow along and learn a few words. These are the words I picked out: 冤, 公平, 吹, 寡妇, 县长, 可怕, 诛心, 爽快, 麻子, 硬, 穷人, 土匪, 惊喜, 剿匪, 体面. The story itself was rather interesting and the movie did win a bunch of awards. Overall, I recommend it. // Maybe I can do this for Russian, too. // Have a good one! stevensirski.com THUNDERSTORM to start the day, still did morning walk and Chinese characters but GOT SOAKED! // Some Russian grammar practice and then prepped A1/2 practice test. // APP research for audio and video. Found some. // Time to vlog? // Got a massage gun! Good for some things. // Hope Thursday is well. Another spin around the sun about to start. // stevensirski.com Another spin around the begins!  // Teacher's Day, so make to wish all of your teachers a happy day and a good start to the new school year!  //  Was able to get some Chinese character review in plus some Russian vocab and grammar. Took a look at the TORFL Elementary Test and, though it looks kind of easy, there were some key words I didn't know in such a "simple" test.  //  Afternoon was spent researching how to use Python across a variety of projects and programs, notably Blender. Was hoping to use it in Final Cut Pro but it looks as though that's no longer the case. :(  //  Workout in the afternoon with the weight vest, gotta slim down that midsection if I can!  //  Dinner was lamb skewers from a nearby Xinjiang restaurant!  //  Overall, a good day, hope yours goes well too!  //  Oh, and you might notice a couple extra tracks appended to this episode! The opening was a trial run using the BandLab APP, the second was recorded with Garageband. This seems to be an annual thing I do to record something on the drums but then never post it. Well, here it is! Enjoy!  //  stevensirski.com
