St. Catherine of Genoa: Purgatory and the Afterlife

St. Catherine of Genoa (Caterina Fieschi Adorno, 1447 – 1510) experienced mystical raptures that gave her profound insights on purgatory and the afterlife. She was beatified 1675 and canonized 1737. St. Catherine was born to a rich and powerful family in Genoa, Italy and married off at an early age, but endured a horrible marriage. That led to her conversion and life of prayer and penance.
