St Johns School Board Race Heats Up | Jacksonville News

The St. Johns School Board District One race is heating up between veteran Beverly Slough and newcomer Kevin Allen, with the winner set to shape the district’s budget, school operations, and future growth. Slough, with 20+ years on the board, champions experience and incremental savings like cutting admin roles and increasing class sizes. Allen, a finance-savvy outsider, pushes for bold moves — including halting new residential development — to ease strain on schools. Campaign cash tells a story too: Slough leads with nearly $44K, much from developers; Allen trails with $18K, mostly self-funded, and vows to reject developer money. With no runoff, voters decide next week — the stakes couldn’t be higher. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
