St. Mary’s nurses celebrate certified union vote

Hundreds of nurses at St. Mary’s voted to unionize in June, fed up with staffing and retention issues at the hospital. SSM Health filed a challenge with the National Labor Relations Board soon after, but the board overruled their objections last week and certified the election. It’s a major win for the nurses, who’ve alleged widespread union busting activity in the workplace. Emily Berceau, a labor and delivery nurse, has worked at St. Mary’s for four years.
