De Belgische staat heeft een schuld van 575 miljard euro. Dat is een duizelingwekkend cijfer en daarmee staan we aan de top in Europa. Om die schuld af te betalen betalen we jaarlijks alleen al een rente van 12 miljard euro. Jean Deboutte is directeur van het Federaal Agentschap van de Schuld. Hij is een soort penningmeester die de kostprijs van de schuld zo laag mogelijk moet houden. Hoe doet hij dat? Kan je als land failliet gaan?
