Stadium Scene's Main Event 100th Episode Spectacular

from Stadium Scene’s Main Event · host Stadium Scene Media

It's hard to believe when we started our show as a podcast in February of 2017 that we would ever reach 100 episodes.  In fact, as of 2020, we only had 35.  Add 65 more shows between March of 2020 and today and here we are with milestone episode 100!  We decided the only appropriate way to celebrate 100 episodes is to talk about our previous 99 episodes, take a shot of Malört and visit with our first partners that helped us build this site into something special.   First, we sit down with our old friend Ralph Schudel (ralphschudel.com) and talk about how we met back after the #SaveTheCrew movement started.  It's really incredible how in just four years the Columbus Crew went from being moved to Austin to an expansion franchise was added to Austin, new ownership comes in, and Lower.com Field just recently opened in downtown Columbus, Ohio.   In our next segment, we talk about our earliest shows, shifting our show concept over to being more interview-based, and our first guests who may not be household names, but have amazing stories to share.  We actually had our first famous guests with Michelle McMahon from Big Ten Network and Super Bowl Champion Bernard Pollard stopping by and visiting the show.   The next throw to segment is with our friend Dave Knittel.  Dave runs the popular "The Soccer Tavern" channel on YouTube discussing the history and teams of soccer.  Dave also co-hosted the "Bros Talking Soccer" podcast with his brothers and famously hosted a daily episode after each day of action in the 2018 Men's and 2019 Women's World Cups.   Next up, we talk about how 2020 and the pandemic changed the trajectory of this show, where we talked with legendary Cubs radio broadcaster Pat Hughes, Andrew Dymburt of ABC News Now, and how watching a rerun of ABC's Wipeout at 11pm on a Saturday night inspired D.J. to take a chance and reach out to John Anderson at ESPN and resulted in an incredibly fun interview.   In our final throw to segment, we interview our two active longest partners Kevin Pettit (Loud Americans Discussing Soccer Podcast) and Adam Corsair (South of the 6ix, Jaybird Watching Podcast) about D.J. randomly reaching out to them when the site first started about this crazy idea.  Both guests were fairly new at their shows and took a chance to partner with us.  If it wasn't for them, this concept would have failed after six months.  We can't say thank you enough to the two of them for helping get us on our feet.   Finally, we close out the show talking about our new Book Club segment and perhaps we've accidentally created a new segment. The discussion with Kevin and Adam about dealing with criticism, bad reviews, and nasty emails which make you want to quit were too good to cut, so we're going to be releasing all of that in next week's episode!  Thank you again to everyone who has made StadiumScene.TV a success so far. We cannot thank you enough.  Here's to the next 100 episodes not taking four years! If you would like to see the video of this episode, don't wait... go subscribe to our YouTube channel and never miss an episode!
