Originally Aired: November 23, 1938The Lone Ranger #909, "Stage Robbery Evidence," finds the masked rider and Tonto investigating a series of brazen stagecoach robberies plaguing the route between Ogden and Hampton Mills. When the stage carrying passenger Mr. Ames is held up and over a thousand dollars in cattle money is stolen, driver Sleepy and guard Pat find themselves helpless against the masked outlaws who strike without warning. Sheriff suspects Utah Jennings and Mac Loomis are responsible, but without solid evidence or witness identification, he cannot secure a conviction. The robberies are costing Sleepy more than just pride—stage manager Grant Fergus had been ready to promote him to an office position until this latest holdup damaged his record.The Lone Ranger, disguised as a stranger in town, questions the victims and learns crucial details about the crime. The outlaws are described as unremarkable men—middle in height, complexion, and everything else—making identification nearly impossible when masked. After determining the holdup occurred just over an hour earlier near Red River Bridge, the Lone Ranger returns to Tonto with urgent news: two men they spotted riding away from the stage trail may be the very criminals they seek.
