SPEAKER SENIOR: Gianluigi MancardiSPEAKER JUNIOR: Virginia RinaldiRAZIONALE Nei disordini dello spettro della Neuromielite Ottica (NMO) le ricadute costituiscono il principale driver e motivo di accumulo di disabilità. Infatti, a differenza della Sclerosi Multipla (SM) nella NMO la componente di progressione indipendente dalle ricadute sembra avere un ruolo marginale se non nullo, mentre invece le ricadute sono generalmente più frequenti (con un tasso annualizzato pari a più del doppio di quello della SM) e più gravi (a causa del maggior danno assonale). Pertanto, nella NMO, diventa cruciale una gestione ottimale delle ricadute sia in acuto, con un trattamento tempestivo ed efficace volto a limitarne il più possibile gli esiti a lungo termine, sia in cronico con terapie preventive che ne riducano l’insorgenza.
