Stalkers, Wings and Whales

Without getting into the details, there was one point in my media career (so far), that a person took it upon themselves to make an attempt to “find me” in the “real world.” That person believed that they could get me to do something for them and control my life and behaviors in a manner that they, in a deranged mind, was who I am. It was nerve-wracking for a few days, and nort something that I would ever like to deal with again. Two incidents here in Washington State last week have reminded me of those days. In the first, a Bremerton man has pled guilty to stalking a Washington State Representative over the course of three years. That woman, now wants to buy a gun to protect herself. But thanks tot he legislatures restrictions, she cannot. In the second incident, a podcaster and her husband were murdered by a stalker who believed that the woman was required to have some sort of romantic relationship with him. He won’t be hurting anyone else, but the idea that he tracked her down from halfway across the country – if not the world – is tremendously unsettling.
