Stand Still and Hear
from Christian Spirituality on SermonAudio Hosted by Pooyan Mehrshahi
This sermon examines the encounter between Saul and Samuel in 1 Samuel 9, highlighting the contrast between Saul's initial focus on lost donkeys and the divine purpose of his kingship. It emphasises Samuel's humility and approachability, noting that true spiritual authority does not require outward display or prestige. The text explores Samuel's gracious acceptance of his successor, demonstrating that obedience to God must be wholehearted and free from personal resentment or bitterness. Furthermore, the sermon urges believers to seek the counsel of older, experienced Christians rather than relying solely on technology or peer groups. Ultimately, the central message calls for a posture of stillness and submission, where individuals listen to God's Word and allow it to govern their lives under the ultimate authority of Jesus Christ.
