Today in Part 1, you will learn: *Heather followed in her father's footsteps to become a school psychologist.*Heather's father advocated for her sister, Erin, who has autism and ignited the fire of Heather's advocacy. *Heather is an autism specialist and advocates for those with special needs. *Heather gained the courage to advocate for her daughter, Devyn who also has autism. *When Devyn's school district discriminated against Devyn and denied her accommodations to have her service dog accompany her to school, Heather found her voice. *Heather valiantly fought all the way up to the US Dept of Justice and won her case, creating legal precedence for others with special needs! She is an autism specialist, currently serving as the Grants and Media Coordinator at Homesteads for Hope, a 55 acre community farm in New York in which people with disabilities learn, work, and live alongside other community members who volunteer and support the farm. She is the owner/CEO of Burroughs Empowerment Agency, Getting Healthy with Heather, and an independent certified Optavia Coach. She is the co-host of "Growing Purpose, Cultivating Inclusion," podcast and is writing a book, "Pardon me, but get the #! @*&% out of my way."
