Stanford Basketball Lands 7-Foot Transfer Austin Maurer

Stanford Mens Basketball Secures Versatile Transfer: Austin Maurer Joins for 2026-27 Season Stanford Mens Basketball has landed a significant addition to their roster with the transfer of Austin Maurer, a seven-foot junior from Seattle University. Maurer, a versatile big man from Medford, Oregon, will join the Cardinal for the 2026-27 season, filling a crucial need with his size and skills. Last year at Seattle, Maurer averaged 7.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, shooting over 52% from the floor. He scored in double figures ten times, including a career-high 19 against Washington, and grabbed his first double-double against UT San Antonio. Coach Kyle Smith is excited about Maurers arrival, praising his cultural fit, rim protection, rebounding grit, and emerging floor-spacing ability. Smith even compared Maurer to former Stanford star Curtis Borchardt. Maurer also earned academic honors and helped anchor the nations 21st-ranked defense in the 7th-best league. Coming from an athletic family with NFL and Pac-Twelve ties, Maurer started at Grand Canyon as a freshman before shining at Seattle. In high school at Cascade Christian, he was a three-time state champ, two-time Oregon three-A player of the year, and the 2024 Gatorade player of the year. Maurer joins the sixth newcomer in Stanfords 2026 class, including freshmen like Drew Anderson and Aziz Olajuwon, bolstering the frontcourt depth as the team prepares for next seasons run.
