On April 7th, the transfer portal just fired up right after Michigan's national title win over UConn on April 6th. It opened at midnight on April 7th, and college hoops programs nationwide are already scrambling for next season. Stanford's no exception, with three players now dipping out early. First in was Ryan Agarwal, then freshman big Oscar Guilte jumped in on April 7th, followed quick by redshirt sophomore Jalen Thompson that afternoon.
Guilte, a 6'10 forward center from Belgium's top league, averaged 3.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 32 games as a freshman. These exits hit Stanford hard in the front court, especially with A.J. Rojosi graduating. They're left in behind, Aiden Kamon and Talas Touré, both with limited experience stepping up big.
Death there will be key to staying competitive. Heading into year three, under coach Kyle Smith, the Cardinal want to build on last season's ups and downs. They hit 21 wins in his first year, but struggled to keep momentum, and now the ACC looks sacked. Portal season's just heating up, so Stanford's got to hustle for replacements to chase that March Madness return they haven't sniffed since 2014.
Keep an eye on how they reload.
