Star Trek Legacy: Holodeck Adventures
from Make It So: A Star Trek Legacy Podcast
Holodeck adventures In this episode of the Make It So podcast, hosts Geoff Owen and Baz Greenland, joined by guest Craig McKenzie from the We Are Starfleet podcast, explore the captivating world of holodecks in Star Trek. They start with a look at 'The Big Goodbye' from TNG, recognising its quirks as an early holodeck episode. The discussion then shifts to DS9's 'Our Man Bashir' and the James Bond-like escapades of Dr. Bashir and Garak. The episode concludes with a detailed analysis of Voyager's 'Bride of Chaotica!' and its nostalgic tribute to 1930s sci-fi, especially the Flash Gordon era, focusing on the scenic homage, character dynamics, and Kate Mulgrew's performance as Arachnia. The hosts compare the holodeck's utilisation across series and reflect on how these episodes influence the Star Trek legacy.
