Star Trek: The Next Generation Turns 35

from Sci-Fi Guy Hosted by Will Stape

Let’s see what’s out there…. Engage! And so a new Star Trek TV show came roaring into our galaxy at warp speed and another starship crew would earn devoted fan adoration as they sought out new life and new civilizations. This one was also created by original Star Trek mastermind, Gene Roddenberry. Honestly, I didn’t think much of it - at first. I just never thought it would last all that long. In the end, I ended up loving it and actually writing for it. Although now regarded as a pop cultural landmark, Star Trek: The Next Generation in its first release, had more than some media industry doubt and risk involved regarding its future. Could this new version get even close to the dedicated love fans had for Captain Kirk, Bones and Mister Spock? C’mon, my terrific trekking Trekkers. Let’s talk Captain Jean-Luc Picard, aka Patrick Stewart, the USS Enterprise 1701-D, Dustbuster phasers and those nifty one piece uniforms lacking pockets.
