But it found new life in syndication and gradually became a cultural phenomenon. It went onto spawn 13 feature length movies between 1979-2016 (new one coming soon). It has also hatched 12 additional TV series (2 still running) that have collectively produced over 900 episodes (and counting). How does a TV show that lasted only half the seasons as one of its 1960’s TV contemporaries, “Mister Ed”, (about a talking horse) become a - still growing - $20 billion dollar franchise?
