Stars of the 90s - Boyzone - When all is Said and Done

from Talk2TheHand 90s · host Jimmy and Beth

Join us on heartfelt journey through the story of Boyzone, including Beth’s first love, Ronan Keating. We begin with the 1993 auditions arranged by Louis Walsh, which brought together Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, and Mikey Graham to form Boyzone. We talk about how Colin Farrell was almost a part of the group! There is also discussion of that embarrassing appearance on the Late, Late Show. If you haven't seen it, you really need to! We talk about the group member who originally failed their audition but was added to the band after two original members were left. Of course, we find out what ever happened to those two! There is an amazing moment as we find out how something about Beth’s childhood which Jimmy finds hilarious. After the group went on a break, Ronan Keating embarked on a successful solo career. After saying he couldn't see himself as part of Boyzone again, we look at what concert changed his mind. The episode sheds light on Boyzone's remarkable reunion and their decision to continue their musical journey, paying homage to their past while looking toward the future.  Tragedy struck with the sudden and devastating loss of Stephen Gately in 2009. We honour his memory and explore the profound impact his passing had on the band. Finally, we catch up with the other members of Boyzone — Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy, and Mikey Graham — and explore their post-Boyzone endeavours, highlighting their diverse career paths and the impact they've had individually. This episode is a nostalgic and touching look back at a band that not only shaped an era of pop music but also proved that enduring friendship and music can withstand the tests of time. Join us as we celebrate the incredible story of Boyzone and the lasting legacy they've created in the world of music. Spoiler alert - Beth never did get to marry Ronan.
