That's the date of the tragic Amtrak 501 derailment near DuPont, Washington that killed three, injured dozens and impacted thousands trying to drive between Seattle and Portland for days after the derailment. On that day, Bloodworks was able to send more than 150 units of blood to hospitals in the area. So as Bloodworks 101 producer John Yeager found out, Juan Cotto has a simple message on this State Blood Donor Day - donate blood, because you just never know when a disaster might hit.
