State government moves to reduce footprint in downtown Madison

Wisconsin's state government is moving to sell off a significant portion of the land it owns in downtown Madison, as it plans on increasing the number of state employees who live and work outside the city. A recent example: the Legislature’s powerful budget-writing committee approved the sale last week of two downtown office buildings to a private developer, freeing up the 2.5 acre site for redevelopment.
