According to data from the Alberta government, opioids took the lives of over 17-hundred Albertans in 2023 and experts don’t expect 2024 to be any better. We get the latest on the ongoing crisis from Dr. Monty Ghosh, Assistant Professor and Doctor of Internal Medicine at the University of Alberta. ‌Next, it’s a ‘first’ for Alberta - the “U of C” has opened an on-campus substance-free, recovery-friendly drop-in space. We discuss the impact and need for this space with Victoria Burns - Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Calgary.
