Staying Ahead of the Curve- Live at the Virginia Fire Rescue Conference

The Virginia Fire Rescue Conference in Virginia Beach brought together fire chiefs, leaders, and professionals from across the state to discuss the latest trends and advancements in the fire service industry. The conference offers educational sessions, hot classes, and hands-on training to promote learning and skill development. With a focus on attracting young people and staying ahead of the curve, the conference highlighted the importance of education, advocacy, and leadership in the fire service. Chief Vance Cooper, the incoming president of the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association, discussed the organization's mission and the challenges faced by fire departments in terms of recruitment, funding, and equipment. Chief Marci Stone, a trailblazer in the fire service and Vice President of region six for the VFCA, shared her experiences and offered insights on the importance of authenticity, mentorship, and inclusion in the fire service.
