Stefan Zavalin: Move more, live longer

from Live Long and Master Aging · host HealthSpan Media

Regular exercise is key pillar of healthy longevity. But which activities really make a difference – running, walking, a gym class, yoga, weightlifting? Does it have to involve breaking into a sweat, or ten thousand steps, to do any good?  Some health practitioners have taken to advocating daily movement over traditional exercise. Stefan Zavalin is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the owner of Love to Move, a company that advises employers on workplace design and ways to promote physical and emotional wellness. In this LLAMA podcast interview, with Peter Bowes, Stefan explains the benefits of a movement mindset and why focusing of vigorous exercise is not always helpful. He says movement is at the core of everything we do, day and night, and should play a bigger role in our lives.  He discusses the benefits of periodic standing over sitting; his commitment to multiple daily walks and a fun approach to keeping the body moving. Recorded: Sept 22, 2021 | Read a transcript and show notes at the LLAMA podcast website. The Live Long and Master Aging podcast shares ideas but does not offer medical advice.  If you have health concerns of any kind you should consult your own doctor or professional health adviser. Fit, Healthy & Happy Podcast Welcome to the Fit, Healthy and Happy Podcast hosted by Josh and Kyle from Colossus...Listen on: Apple Podcasts   SpotifySupport the showThe Live Long and Master Aging (LLAMA) podcast, a HealthSpan Media LLC production, shares ideas but does not offer medical advice.  If you have health concerns of any kind, or you are considering adopting a new diet or exercise regime, you should consult your doctor.
