Step Back in Time: Experience an Old-Fashioned Fall Harvest in Northwest Illinois

What did harvest season look like before modern farming technology? On this episode of Along the Rock, host Kierstyn Long talks with Katie Lewis from Bos Brothers Historical Farm about the upcoming Old-Fashioned Fall Harvest.The annual event gives visitors a chance to step back in time and experience traditional farming, crafts, skills, and trades. This year’s show will feature historic harvesting of corn and soybeans, along with demonstrations including rug weaving, quilting, blacksmithing, wood turning, wooden spoon carving, macramé, crocheting and pottery.Visitors can also see a sawmill, shingle mill, rock crusher, and historic plowing demonstrations in action.
