Stephanie Pérez-Jarmul is the Managing Director of College Success at Heights Philadelphia, which has its College Success Summer Institute — a 5-week program based out of Temple University's School of Business that simulate a true college semester so recent grads feel prepared for classes begin. According to 2026 data released by the School District of Philadelphia, from the 2025 seniors that enrolled in college — 42.5% didn’t show up that Fall! This trend is referred to as “summer melt,” when students who enroll in college withdraw before the school year even begins.
